Andrea Salazar: Businesswoman and international fashionista

As designer and founder of the world-renowned brand, SETA, Andrea Salazar has become an international businesswoman and fashionista.

Born in Colombia, Salazar moved to Europe at the young age of seventeen to study English and explore her passion for fashion.

She then moved to Brazil to get her master's degree in international business, and at the age of 22, she returned to Colombia with all the knowledge and tools needed to start her own business and create the SETA brand with her sister Eliana.

Salazar has traveled all over the world at the biggest fashion events with his pieces, from the catwalks of Paris Fashion Week to the lights of New York.
Over the years, SETA has established itself in cities such as Miami, Medellín, and Bogotá, and has appeared in renowned magazines and shows such as Vogue, Elle Magazine, and The Today Show.

Salazar's specialty is to create pieces inspired by the power of a woman inside, making Salazar one of the most unique and versatile designers in Latin America.

Now, Salazar will share his style and vision on the reality show “Making the Cut”, presented by model Heidi Klum and TV personality Tim Gunn, which premiered on July 16 on Amazon Prime.

“Making the Cut” takes its participants all over the world to compete to become one of the biggest brands globally, winning an investment of one million dollars.

Salazar's brand, SETA, now has that opportunity. In an exclusive conversation with Impacto Latino, the designer shared her beginnings in the fashion world, her tips, and her feelings about her participation in “Making the Cut”.

What was the first thing that inspired you to become a designer and create your own business and brand?

- It was a set of things. I loved fashion since I was very young. I grew up in a family of women fashionistas. My mother is a fashion designer. My grandmother was a fashionista in her decade, and they had a great family influence.

When I was seventeen, I went to live in London for a year, and it was a great experience to leave Colombia and live in Europe. It opened the doors for me, and it opened my mind to follow this fashion path.
